Populonia |
| Of Etruscan origin was one of the most important cities in ancient times for the processing and trading of iron. From the top of the hill overlooking the sea and the Gulf of Baratti, is fascinating because of their position and to 'imposing fortress with walls that were built to defend against pirate attacks, during the first half of the fifteenth century. The cobbled streets of Old Town are home to small specialty shops and a private museum with artifacts found in the Etruscan archaeological site. It connects to Baratti with the beautiful scenic route and a few miles away is advised to visit the archaeological park of Baratti - Populonia of about 80 hectares with Etruscan tombs, relics and a series of walking trails in a spectacular setting. |
